Mothra update is FINALLY (almost) HERE!

To say this update was a challenge to make is an understatement. Just to put it into perspective: Our programmer put no less than thousands of hours into making A34 what it is today, and we literally mean thousands. It includes making custom systems for X-Ray, save files, gallery, skins, and of course adding all of the content. At this point it's fair to say our game is rather sizable, even considering we are still far from being done. That being said, this particular update required him to rewrite around 30% of the existing code, because it wasn't designed for the improvement we have in mind today. It might have been a little narrow-sighted of us to make things this way, but in our defense, this game is still our very first project of such scale.

You could imagine how long it took him, all while working alone, half the time doing it from the bed due to being extremely sick. Even though it might look as if the development has been halted due to his condition, he never stopped the grind. This man is a monster and we have nothing but respect for him.

And after all this struggle, the update is almost here.

But there are few major points we have to discuss before we release it.

- As we said, a lot of the game's code has been redone from the scratch. For example, the save system was completely reworked for the sake of stability and better synchronization with in-game gallery. Since we're adding new ways of customizing characters, it would've been a shame if, due to some strange bug, you lost all of your unlocked customisations. But of course it comes with it's own problems: There is no way we could test every possible way of breaking this new system, so you should expect issues! We will be actively monitoring all of the reports and will try to patch any bugs that might occur as soon as possible. Still, once this new update will be released, make sure to backup your existing save files and do not overwrite them in game. They should still be compatible, and maybe even more stable than new ones, so for the sake of your own better experience, try to keep them intact.

- This update is still incomplete. The version you will see released in coming days (or weeks, depending on how well the internal testing goes) won't feature new shop and updated gallery, but it will include the fully playable Mothra storyline and her new scenes. Those new systems will be patched-in over the coming weeks, we just have to make sure they are actually working as intended. As of right now, they are 90% done, but delaying the entire update just to finish them felt wrong. We understand, that they might have been the major selling points for this exact release, but keeping you content-starved for any longer just feels wrong. A new storyline with probably the biggest scene up to date is better than nothing, right?

- The testing phase will be prolonged. That means that the initial release for $10 Patrons will last two weeks instead of one as usual. As you probably realized by now, this update might be unstable and we expect a lot of bug reports. Since we still have only a single developer on board, and he's not even in his best shape, we must limit amount of people who will be testing the game to make sure we won't drown in an endless stream of angry messages, possibly missing some very important information necessary to solve the issues occuring. Yes, we know, extra waiting might be upsetting to some, but we only have few people capable of dealing with those reports and filing them to our developer.

Once we are done with this update for real, and made sure all of new systems are in place and doing exactly what we want them to, we will return to our usual way of releasing expansions for existing characters and adding new ones, without doing any major changes to the game itself. We will take a break from updates of this caliber for at least couple of months, and the next time we decide to change something major, we will make sure to prepare enough content in advance to keep releases steady even while we are working.

We wanted to thank you once again for staying so patient with us! It has been a wild ride, and we will make sure that the coming months will be as juicy as they can get when it comes to releases.

With love,
Young & Naughty team.

Damn such a big rewriting, I hope it helps the code or your team in a way. Won't try this update until Mothra is finished but i hope that the person that try it notice the difference in the coding.

Hope he feels better soon enough, big ups to him for working so hard

As an aspiring game dev, and programmer tell your guy they’ve got my utmost respect rewriting 30% of the code of a game this large is an insane feat. Tell ‘em they’ve got my respect and I hope they’re feeling better from whatever they had/have.
