OVERHAUL, FIRST TASTE — $5 RELEASE

After an excruciating month of work, during which our only developer had to singlehandedly rewrite over 20.000 lines of code, we are finally ready to present the first glimpse at the future of Academy34.

This is not (yet) a massive overhaul, that changes the entire game within a single patch, but the first of many updates, that will gradually replace old and outdated assets, legacy code, and anything that we deem below our personal quality standards. This release opens a door into a new world of possibilities for us, as developers, and gives us a chance to finally implement numerous changes and new additions we've been quietly cooking behind the scenes. Today you will see the first results of our work, which includes new and improved background images for the medical bay, new character sprites in a crisp FullHD glory, a new questline, intro into Seraphina's story, and even a whole new character to interact with!

MAJOR CHANGES AND ADDITIONS

• Expanded Prologue finale, featuring Clyde and many drunken misadventures! While we understand that the main appeal of playing our game are the numerous girls and their meticulously crafter romantic storylines, we want to stay loyal to the core idea behind our game - the disarray that is student's life. For that reason alone, we want to give much more attention to the casual and friendly relationship main protagonist is building with surrounding people. That includes, but not limited to, your beloved cowboy buddy Clyde. This update adds a whole new questline, which is automatically triggered once you complete the final Prologue task, and allows you to experience the beginning of a many year-long partnership by consuming an unethical amount of spicy water and subsequently losing any and all track of reality in the most comical fashion possible. All strictly non-sexual, because Patreon would nuke our page if we added drunken coitus.

• First part of Seraphina's rework! The Academy's only doctor, forever tired Seraphina, has been pending for an update far too long. Throughout the last year or so, we've considered a few options of going about continuing her story, but every time we've been met with the sad reality, that her existing storyline simply didn't allow to expand it much further. Similar to Sonya, she was among the first few characters we have ever added, and unfortunately back then we weren't all that good at planning ahead. So, we decided to use the only correct and very radical approach - rework her from scratch! In this update you will be able to play through the intro of Seraphina's whole new story, enjoy her much improved look in a crisp FullHD, and explore the new medical bay location!

• New character to meet! We don't want to go into too much details, since it would ruin the experience of playing through the new story for the first time, but we will say this: Our players have often requested that we add a character, who simply can't stand main protagonist's guts. No mutual attraction, no redemption arc, nothing. A character, that will never fall in love with you, no matter how hard you try. But it doesn't mean they couldn't be attracted in other ways. Hate f**k is on the horizon, fellas!

• New locations to explore! Since this is still an Overhaul update, we couldn't miss a chance to finally implement first few reworked environments, which we have been slowly redrawing throughout the past few years. This time you will get a chance to visit updated Doctor's Office alongside with whole new Infirmary area! These are two of approximately twenty new backgrounds we have prepared, and they should give you a somewhat decent idea of how the game is going to look once the overhaul process is done. New locations feature updated lighting with a unique "evening" preset which is missing from the existing backgrounds, a much higher resolution and overall quality, new character sprite highlight system, new navigation interface, and so much more space for us to put characters in! This is probably the biggest change from our perspective, since it allows us the freedom of adding much more interactable elements and characters, which we couldn't before.

• Engine improvements! Thanks to our developer's efforts, we managed to make many improvements to our game's core, which allowed us to address some of the old, but very persistent issues, such as "double-click to interact" on Android version, missing scene transitions, choice menus bugging out, and many more. There is still a long way to go for us to achieve the true bug-free experience, but from now on the process of addressing these problems should be much less stress-inducing.

We've put a lot of effort into making sure that this, and all of our upcoming updates would be able to reach even higher quality levels, and we hope you will enjoy this story addition as much as we enjoyed creating it!

The recent delay allowed our art team to prepare even more content, which we are sending straight into the oven, so you should expect another content release within the next few weeks. After that, we will begin our work on something even bigger...
